Finishing up in the House!
Yesterday, the House and Senate money committees met to present their versions of the budget. You can view what each subcommittee recommended here. The full House will discuss the budget later this week, but until then we must vote on all of the remaining bills in the House. Once we have completed that, all of the bills that have passed the House will go through the full committee process in the Senate. All of the bills that have passed the Senate by tomorrow will come over to the House, and start the committee process over here. This means that over the course of today and tomorrow, the House of Delegates will be dealing with upwards of 500 pieces of legislation. We have our work cut out for us! By tomorrow, I should have 10 pieces of legislation headed over the the Senate! You can read more about those below.
I also want to take a moment to explain the picture below. I had the distinct privilege of presenting HJR 734 Commending Bill Kelso on the Floor of the House last week. This was a very special moment, as Dr. Kelso is one of my personal heroes. 25 years ago, he started the work to uncover the James Fort which many thought had been lost to erosion in the James River. You can view my speech here.
Teachers showed up to the General Assembly in full force for the VEA's #WearRed4Ed day, and I couldn't be more proud to support this group. Thank you for all that you do for the children of Virginia!
Look who I ran into! Great seeing CNU's President Trible here in Richmond #CaptainForLife
Loved being greeted by Equality VA and the Human Rights Campaign as I walked over to the Capitol!
Follow my legislation through the process!
