Williamsburg, VA – Today, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee endorsed Delegate Mike Mullin’s (D-Newport News) re-election campaign. The National Democratic Redistricting Committee, chaired by the 82nd Attorney General of the United States Eric H. Holder, Jr., is the first-ever strategic hub for a comprehensive redistricting strategy.
Delegate Mullin gave the following statement: “The 93rd District was redrawn and made 12 points more Republican this year. I could not be a stronger supporter of redistricting reform and ending partisan gerrymandering. We need to end gerrymandering, regardless of any individual elected officials this impacts – including me. I’m so excited to receive the support of Attorney General Holder and the NDRC.”
Attorney General Holder made the following statement: “I’m proud to support Mike Mullin for House District 93 because he will support fair redistricting that ends map manipulation and puts the voters first. With redistricting set to occur in 2021, what happens in this election will help determine the next decade of progress in the Commonwealth. All Virginians who want a more fair-minded and responsive state legislature should do all they can to make sure that Mike Mullin is re-elected in November.”
Delegate Mullin serves the 93rd District which includes the City of Williamsburg and parts of Newport News, James City County, and York County. He has been a prosecutor for more than a decade and handled cases involving domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. During his time in the Legislature, Delegate Mullin passed “Heaven’s Law” to protect children from child abuse. He is a certified Gang Investigator.
