NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Delegate Mike Mullin received endorsement from the Virginia Education Association for his 2019 re-election campaign. Support for public education, teachers, and students has always been at the forefront of Delegate Mullin's legislative priorities.
"I am honored to be endorsed by the VEA," said Del. Mullin. "As the son of a public school teacher, my family has always been strong supporters of our teachers. The VEA is the voice for our schools, teachers, and students across the Commonwealth and I am humbled to have their trust placed in me."
“It is important that we protect and defend the elected officials who have demonstrated their commitment to investing in public education,” said VEA President Jim Livingston, who chairs the VEA Fund. “VEA members will help re-elect Del. Michael Mullin and will be working hard to add more pro-public education Delegates and Senators like them this fall as we continue the fight to Fund Our Future in Virginia.”
In the 2019 Legislative Session, Delegate Mullin supported measures to increase teacher pay, increase school counselors, and keep our kids safe while they are in the classroom. As a member of the House Select Committee on School Safety, Delegate Mullin attended meetings across the Commonwealth to discuss the state of school security and mental health. As a result, Delegate Mullin sponsored legislation to reform our juvenile justice system and provide preventative services to at-risk youth.
